Recognize trouble behind the wheel
08:19 PM CDT on Wednesday, May 16, 2007
Does your car seem to shake and shiver when you're behind the wheel? If so, your car may require immediate attention from a mechanic.
The Federal Trade Commission offers these signs and symptoms a driver can pick up that indicate vehicle steering and handling problems:
•Misaligned front wheels and worn steering components, such as the idler or ball joint, can cause wandering or difficulty steering in a straight line. If a car pulls to the left or right, it may be caused by something as routine as under-inflated tires, or as serious as a damaged or misaligned front end.
•Poor cornering can signal worn shock absorbers, struts or improper tire inflation.
