Gap teams with Whitney Museum to offer limited-edition Artist Editions T-shirts
10:33 AM CDT on Friday, May 16, 2008
Gap is known for its classic-style staples – button-downs and blue jeans – so a collaboration with the modern Whitney Museum of American Art in New York City might seem unlikely.
But Gap's effort to mark the 2008 Whitney Biennial, an exhibition featuring some of the most important works in American contemporary art, has resulted in a just-released batch of limited-edition Artist Editions T-shirts that we love. Designed by such high-profile artists as Chuck Close, Jeff Koons and Barbara Kruger (all former participants in the exhibition), the 13 tops feature the work of selected artists. Find the tees, which range from $28 to $38, at Gap stores in NorthPark Center and Galleria Dallas and online at gap.com.
