Need some cash? Go consignment!

The weather is getting warmer and spring cleaning is in full swing! When you're pulling out your warm weather wear, why not make some green and go green with winter clothes you no longer need? Consignment is a great way to make extra cash, while helping the environment as well. When we buy and sell re-sale, we save resources otherwise used for new materials.
Sharon Moore, President and CEO of City Credit Union, is a long-time consignment shopping fan. "I started shopping consignment many years ago, when my boys were little. Back then, it was a wise thing to do from a financial standpoint. Now, as a CEO, I'm proud to continue that tradition and love to see the look on people's faces when they say, "You shop consignment?1!" My theory is why spend more if you don't have to? Consignment shopping offers not only great bargains, but a wonderful opportunity to recoup some money on clothing you've already purchased. It's a win-win opportunity for consumers."
If you're going to sell some items through consignment, the average pass-thru is 40% of your sales prices goes to the shop. For purchases, great bargains can be had! Shopping consignment allows buyers to pay only 20-30% of original retail prices. Many consignment shops also accept donations for charities, for items that may not sell well through consignment. Great way to go green, save green and make some green!
