'GMT' co-host Amy Vanderoef shares her worst date ever
02:10 PM CDT on Wednesday, June 6, 2007
Amy Vanderoef, co-host of WFAA's Good Morning Texas, was crowned as Miss Connecticut in 2001.
She still dated her fair share of weirdos, though.
"I had my whole 20s to make bad choices," she jokes.
Vanderoef married at 29. Here's her worst date ever.
Lesley Téllez
I'd been set up on a blind date. I had the idea that I should meet the person at a location, so that perhaps that would be a safer way to do it, since we didn't know each other. I got into his car, we'd stopped for gas. While I was in the car, I was being nosy and looking around the car as people do. I saw a file in the back of the car, and it said "Amy Vanderoef." It was labeled.
I was like, "Oh my God, there's a file about me in the backseat of this car." And of course, I look. He's inside paying. So I opened it up and he had Googled me, which is the new way to check anyone out. And it was all these pages he had printed out about me.
And of course, I respect anyone who Googles anyone ... but to print things out and put them in a folder that was labeled with my name, and bring it on the date? He had my parents' info in there. I had to quickly fake an illness and get out of there. So we never made it past the gas station.
He probably never intended for me to see it. I'm sure. He'd be mortified! I just wanted to get the hell out of Dodge at that point. I was like, "Is he kind of obsessed with me?" I don't know.
