Otherwise Engaged: Staying flexible will keep her sane
02:59 PM CDT on Wednesday, June 20, 2007
Last night, I couldn't sleep. It was the first night since the night of our engagement that I had a hard time sleeping. Why? I think it’s the fact that I began making a list of the things left to do for the wedding before I went to bed. Whose idea was it to plan a wedding in less than four months anyway? Oh yeah, me
Rehearsal dinner invitations, favors, programs and rings are some of the big things left to do. Then there are the little things like the marriage license, flower girl baskets. And oh yes, confirming the food, beverages, cakes and hotel rooms for the day of the wedding.
The name of the game now is flexibility.
Last week I told you about our new place that we were supposed to move into on Friday. Guess what… it didn’t happen. Without getting into all the details, I’ll just say that things did not go as planned.
So, we were back to the drawing board. We spent Thursday, Friday and Saturday looking for a new home and I’m happy to say that we found the perfect place. Things will work out better than before… better location, better price and better floorplan. We’re excited.
The whole house issue was a great reminder of the importance of flexibility. With only a couple of weeks left until the big day, we have no choice but to be flexible and to just roll with punches. I already know not everything will go exactly as planned, but that’s the beauty of it all anyway. If something goes wrong now, it will be a funny memory later.
All I can say is that three weeks from today, I’ll be on the white sandy beaches in Playa Del Carmen, wasting the day away, doing absolutely nothing, hanging out with my new hot hubby. Let the countdown begin!
