So opposites attract, huh? How many people have actually found that to be true? You're probably better off seeking a partner with similar interests, be it English literature, the great outdoors, or late-night partying. So here's a guide to hooking up with someone you can relate to in North Texas.

Love of the vine

Whether you're bubbly, fruity or bold, North Texas is a great place for wine enthusiasts. You could stop by one of the many tasting rooms in Dallas, or head to Grapevine for tours of real wineries.

Love the great outdoors? North Texas cities have plenty to offer for those who love to break a sweat in the sun. So grab your bike and hit the trail.

Urban hotties will always be plentiful on the Katy Trail, a concrete path that runs through uptown Dallas from SMU to the American Airlines Center near downtown. Download map and event information at katytraildallas.org.

If you're looking for water and surrounding that are less city-fied, head to the trails around White Rock Lake. You'll feel as if you've hit the country at this urban oasis in East Dallas. whiterocklake.org.

Arbor Hills Nature Preserve in Plano, a 200-acre park, includes a paved recreational trail, 2 miles of off-road bike trails, natural zones for exploring, and plenty of new people to run into. 6701 W. Parker Road; www.planoparks.org.

State of the art

Would you rather gaze at the latest sculpture or debate the beauty of oils vs. pastels? Then try out these local art events to find some fellow inspiring minds.

Meet fellow film buffs in modern surroundings during Magnolia at the Modern, an ongoing series featuring critically acclaimed art-house films at the Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth. Late Nights at the Dallas Museum of Art brings together art and nightlife on the third Friday of each month. For the foodies

If you want to heat things up, head to a cooking class at a local grocery store or culinary shop.

I love the nightlife

If you don't get up until noon, then maybe you're looking for a fellow clubgoer or bar-hopper. Here are a few current hot spots to see and be seen.

If you want the latest in scenester activity, then you have to check out Ghostbar, the hottest club to hit Dallas since, well, ever. Or you could take it down a notch, put on a pair of jeans and go to some of the area's best places to grab a beer and listen to local music. The hip-hop scene in North Texas is thriving, mostly because of Erykah Badu and her Black Forest Theater in South Dallas. It's not only given local rappers and R&B artists a chance, but it's also brought in big names such as Dave Chappelle. 1920 Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd., 214-421-0677.
