North Texas parents search for 'hero' couple
05:47 PM CST on Wednesday, December 5, 2007
A six-month-old North Texas girl's parents are on a manhunt for a couple they call heroes.
Kristina and Erik Harding said their child, Reese, almost died this past summer during a routine trip to a store.
Mrs. Harding said when she stopped her car and went to the back seat to get Reese, she saw that the infant's lips were blue and that she was unusually quiet.
She said just at that moment, a couple in a car coming from Highway 66 in Rockwall seemed to appear out of nowhere.
"The man just took her from me [and] layed her on the back seat," she said. "The woman gave me a hug, called 911. This all happened very quickly, probably about 20 seconds."
The mystery man revived Reese and drove them all to Lake Point Medical Center. Then, Mrs. Harding said they disappeared.
That day, the Hardings found out their daughter has cancer.
"[They] did some tests and found it was neuroblastoma," Mr. Harding said. "And the reason she stopped breathing was a tumor the size of a golf ball actually stopped her breathing."
Because little Reese survived to be diagnosed, she has received treatment and her prognosis is good, though she still wheezes from the surgery she underwent to remove the tumor.
Four months after that fateful day, the Hardings said they would very much like to find their guardian angels, "and just thank them for being there when we needed them that day," Mrs. Harding said.
